Microneedling is a process in which tiny needles are used to create micro-injuries in the skin. This is done using a special device that is sterile and contains 12 micro-needles. The device gently glides across the skin creating the injury needed to prompt your own body’s repair response. This process allows for the rebuilding and restructuring of the collagen fibers, giving the skin a smoother and firmer appearance.

Q: How many Microneedling treatments will I need?
A: The total of treatments needed varies depending on individual concerns and the degree of damage that we are trying to improve. Some patients will require up to six treatments in order to achieve maximum results.

Q: What should I expect after treatment?
A: Immediately after each treatment, patient will go through a brief 24-hour inflammatory period that is associated with wound healing. This can include mild swelling and overall redness in the treatment area. After this time, expect residual redness or, in most cases, blotchy skin until it is fully healed. The healing process will take 3-4 days for most patients. In rare cases, patients will experience pin point bruising resulting in 1-2 days of added downtime.

Q: What does a treatment feel like?
A: Depending on the depth of treatment, numbing creams can be used to increase patient comfort. Those undergoing treatments with a shorter needle will only feel a tickling sensation, while those undergoing treatment with the full 2.0mm may have added discomfort.

Q: What Microneedling device does Westside Dermatology use?
A: We use the Eclipse Micropen.

Q: Who performs Microneedling?
A: Haley Peterson performs Microneedling.
